It is easy to imagine a wild man in the wilderness, but how to live in the wilderness as an urban, civilized person? How to find a balance between harmony with nature and being connected with the society as it is — without fear, cynicism, grief, anger? How to maintain dignity inside being different? Such questions guide Nara on his quest towards genuine humanness. They inspired him to experiment with natural living which started in 2007 when he wrote the book: Human: Instructions for Use. Since then he is always barefooted, He uses chewing sticks instead of toothbrushes, he squats on the toilet, he moved from chairs to the floor etc.

Nara wrote six books in Slovenian and at least 300 articles and essays. In 2014 he received the Slovenian best essay award for the text This is not the awarded essay.

Nara facilitated all kinds events, including: Slovenian rural parliament, the establishment of Network for revival of Istria, forming municipal transportation strategies, developing the cancer prevention programme with the Ministry of Health, facilitating international conferences etc.

In 2009/10 and 2011/12 Nara was one of the coordinators of the campaign Let’s clean Slovenia in one day! He still supports teams of Let’s do it! World Cleanup 2018 campaing worldwide as mentor, couch and trainer.

Nara is active in the Global Ecovillage Network and is a council member of ECOLISE (European Network for Community-­Led Initiatives on Climate Change and Sustainability).

Finally, here is Nara’s talk Riding the wave of inner calling on the Creative Industries conference in Latvia. In September 2016 a portrait documentary Nara = Human was first shown on the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož.
